Good to Grow Inc has been working with different organizations, schools and community centers in Ethiopia since 2009.Any unused area of land in schools and community centers are potential garden for our organization ,Good to Grow Inc steps in to provide the necessary support that is required by these schools to start a school garden by providing the tools, seeds,manure and the necessary agricultural education to the school students and staff who will nurture the gardens in the future. Following is the list of schools  that have benefited from the Organization.

Andent School (Private School)                                                                                                                                              Project Year 2008

School Description:

 This private school supports K through 12. 
  • 600 number of students
  • 25 number of teachers
  • 2.5  acres of unused potential gardening area

Accomplishments:

  •    Able to grow vegetables on 1 acre
  •   Provided $200 dollars’ worth of seeds
  •   Training for teachers and students
  •   Knowledge transfer of gardening and nutrition to teachers, students, and parents
  •   School hired permanent gardening staff
  •    Able to produce a variety of vegetables that had been used in school feeding and surplus sold to parents

Cruise School (Private School)                                                                                                                                               Project Year 2008

School Description:

This is a private school that supports kindergarten
  •  250 number of students
  •  15 number of teachers
  •  0.25  acres of unused potential gardening area

Accomplishments:

  •  Able to grow vegetables on 0.25 acres
  •  Provided $50 dollars’ worth of seeds
  • Training for teachers and students
  •  Knowledge transfer of gardening and nutrition to teachers, students, and parents
  • Able to produce a variety of vegetables that were sold to parents

SOS Children Village in Addis Ababa (NGO’s Non-Profit schools)                                                                       Project Year 2007 - 2010

Description

This is a village boarding facility for children who have lost their parents
  •  250 children from babies to 18 years old
  •  20 Guardians
  • 4  acres of unused potential gardening area

Accomplishments

  • Able to grow vegetables on 2 acres
  • Provided $200 dollars’ worth of seeds
  • Training for Guardians and children
  • Knowledge transfer of gardening and nutrition to guardians and staff
  • Educating the children on the benefits of vegetable diet
  • Able to produce a variety of vegetables that had been used in the village center facility feeding the children
  • Reduced external cost for purchasing vegetables

CHSFS in Addis Ababa and Hossana (NGO’s Non-Profit schools)                                                                       Project Year 2007 - 2009

School Description

This private school supports K through 12.
  •  800 number of students
  • 35 number of teachers
  •  3  acres of unused potential gardening area

Accomplishments

  • Able to grow vegetables on 3 acres
  • Provided $350 dollars’ worth of seeds
  • Training for teachers, students, and parents
  • Knowledge transfer of gardening and nutrition to teachers, students, and parents
  • School hired permanent gardening staff
  • Able to produce a variety of vegetables that had been used in school feeding and surplus sold to parents
  • This project also included poultry and small fruit production establishment and guidance

Yemane Birhan Primary and Secondary School (Community Schools – Government Schools)                   Project Year 2007 - 2010

School Description

This is a community school K thru 12th grade
  • 1800 number of students
  • 40 number of teachers
  • 1  acre of unused potential gardening area

Accomplishments

  • Able to grow vegetables on 0.5 acres
  • Provided $100 dollars’ worth of seeds
  • Training for teachers, students, and parents
  • Knowledge transfer of gardening and nutrition to teachers, students, and parents
  • Able to produce a variety of vegetables that had been used in staff cafeteria and surplus sold to the community

Weyera Primary School (Public School)                                                                                                              Project Year 2008 and 2009

School Description

This is a Public school K thru 8th grade
  • 1200 number of students
  • 30 number of teachers
  • 2  acre of unused potential gardening area

Accomplishments

  • Able to grow vegetables on 0.25 acres
  • Provided $100 dollars’ worth of seeds
  • Training for teachers, students, and parents
  • Knowledge transfer of gardening and nutrition to teachers, students, and parents
  •  Able to produce a variety of vegetables that had been used in small school feeding and surplus sold to the community

Nefas Silk Secondary School (Public School)                                                                                                                       Project Year 2008

This is a Public school K thru 8th grade
  • 2500 number of students
  • 50 number of teachers
  • 2.5  acre of unused potential gardening area

Ayre Tena Secondary and Preparatory School (Public School)                                                                                        Project Year 2011

This is a Public serving 11th and 12th grades

  • 70 number of teachers

School Description

This is a Public school serving K through 10th grades

  • 100 number of teachers
